Memorial Day Parade - May 27th

Tolland will hold its largest community gathering – the 21st annual Memorial Day Parade and Service on Sunday, May 27th at 1 p.m., rain or shine.

The parade theme is “Honoring Our Flag” to remember the American flag is one symbol for which men and women in the military have sacrificed their lives. Civic groups are encouraged to enter floats in the parade and compete for prizes. Groups taking part in the parade will line up at noon in the parking lot next to the Preschool of the Arts on Route 74. The parade will step off at 1 p.m. and travel along Route 74 and the historic Tolland Green, turn right on Old Post Road and end at Tolland Intermediate School at 96 Old Post Road. The route is 7/10ths of a mile. A solemn ceremony will follow at the Intermediate School.

In the weeks leading up to the parade, the Town’s Permanent Celebration Committee is soliciting donations for the Rocky Hill Veterans Home VFW Auxiliary. The donations will be used to buy household and personal care items for veterans at the state home. Donations may be mailed to the Permanent Celebration Committee, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084. To enter the parade, contact committee President Celeste Senechal at tollandpcc@gmail.com or 860-543-4687.
