Tolland Education Foundation (TEF) has awarded $2,620 to Library Media Specialist Celeste Estevez to create a multimedia station in the school’s library. The station will include a computer, audio and associated video equipment to benefit students and teachers in grades 6-8.
Estevez described the grant as enabling TMS students and teachers to create digital movies, audio recordings, and slideshows in one central location. Teachers will now be able to incorporate some of the most current technology to further extend the work they are doing with their students, including audio, text, video, photographs, and student artwork.
The school- sponsored co-curricular TMS News & Media Club will utilize the technology for the TMS News Wiki.

“Through the TMS News & Media program there will be critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity and innovation among students,” said Estevez.
She explained that TMS students will have opportunities to create plans, design interview questions, make decisions about how content will be delivered, and have an audience for their work beyond the classroom.
