Eagle Pride: 5 Unforgettable Athletes From Tolland High School
From local fields to national fame, these stars got their start in Tolland.

Sports run deep in Tolland, and Tolland High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Eagle uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Tolland High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.
1. Patrick Halgren – Alpine Skier (Paralympics)
Halgren, a graduate of Tolland, represented Team USA at the 2022 Beijing Paralympics as an alpine skier. (Source: Team USA)
2. Charlotte Pacheco – Gymnast (Regional Champion)
Having earned All‑State and Academic All‑American honors in gymnastics while at Tolland, Pacheco became the 2024 New England Beam Champion and is continuing her gymnastics career at UConn. (Source: CTInsider.com)

3. Sophia Cunningham - Golfer (State Champion)
Cunningham holds the title as the first female to play on Tolland's boys golf team – she won the 2024 Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Division II state championship and signed a letter of intent to Bryant University to continue. (Source: CTInsider.com)
4. Colby Bornstein – Cross Country (State Champion & NCAA Athlete)
Having the title of 2023 CIAC Class M State Champion in cross country and receiving All-State and All-Conference honors at Tolland High School, he is now continuing his cross country career at Mercer University. (Source: Mercer Bears)

5. Kristin Schatzlein - Basketball (Hall of Famer)
Schatzlein is Tolland’s all-time leading scorer in girls' basketball – she was named Gatorade CT Player of the Year in 2012 and played for Fairfield University, where she was inducted into the Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. (Source: Fairfield Stags)
