Grant Announced For Tolland, Willington, Ashford Regional Animal Control Facility
The funding is being provided through the State of Connecticut's Grants-in-Aid for Urban Development Program.

TOLLAND, CT — State officials Thursday announced that the town of Tolland is being awarded $873,000 in state grant funding to support much-needed renovations and improvements to the Town’s Animal Control Facility and to create a regional program that will include the towns of Willington and Stafford.
The funding is being provided through the State of Connecticut's Grants-in-Aid for Urban Development Program and will allow Tolland to modernize its Animal Control Facility, to improve conditions for animals, enhance safety for staff and visitors, and ensuring the region can "continue to provide high-quality animal care and control services."
New state regulations for animal control facilities were adopted in late 2023 and take effect in January 2029.

"This funding is a major win for Tolland, Willington and Ashford," State Sen. Jeff Gordon said. "The Animal Control Facility plays an important role in public safety and animal welfare, and these improvements will allow the town to better serve residents, while ensuring humane, safe, and modern conditions for the animals in its care."
