Farmland Leasing Lecture to be Held Thursday

From the Town of Tolland:

The Tolland Conservation Commission will be hosting a talk on farmland leasing on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Hicks Municipal Building.  Jennifer McTiernan of the UCONN Cooperative Extension System will talk about:

• The need for leased farmland
• The mechanism of leasing
• The kinds of leases and licenses
• The various state and federal programs to help landowners and lessees

This program should be attended by anyone who wishes to lease land for agriculture, anyone who has suitable land that they would like to lease for agriculture, or anyone who is interested in sustaining local food production.
