Update: Good News Friday: Prom Pictures and Tolland Mom Wins a Cruise

Updated: Tolland resident Kate Mlodzinski and family have won a cruise, courtesy of the 'Today' show's "Most Deserving Mom" contest. The announcement was made Friday morning.

The second contest finalist also won a cruise vacation.

What a Friday! The sun is out, the birds are chirping and good news is in the air for so many today.

How cool is it that a Tolland mom is in the running to be the nation’s “Most Deserving Mom,” according to the Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb segment on the Today Show? Wicked cool.

Kate Mlodzinski's lifelong friend, Gretchen Arnold, nominated Mlodzinski for all of her work with Adam's Adventure, a local group fundraising to build a handicap-accessible playground at Cross Farms. 

Best of luck today, Kate. No matter what happens, Tolland knows that you’re a wonderful mom. 

From children dreaming of an all-inclusive playground to teens prepping for the prom, today is such a fantastic day.

It was a little dicey there for a while when it appeared that the tradition of taking prom pictures on the town Green would end in 2013. Fortunately for all those involved, the tradition will carry on, at least for this year.

With the necessary permits in place, the Green is again open for prom photos. When it comes to prom tonight, three important things to remember: make good memories, have fun and stay safe.
