High School Juniors Opt Out of Test

At Tolland High School, 46 juniors opted out of the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium test.

At Tolland High School, 46 juniors opted out of the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium test, which translates to a 77 percent participation rate.

According to Superintendent of Schools Walter Willett, if the opt-outs were removed, the participation rate would have been 99 percent.

The Journal Inquirer reports that Willett chose not to include the information on the students’ transcripts. The state regulation leaves it to the discretion of the superintendent whether to include the SBAC on students’ transcripts.

In regards to K-8 testing, the participation rate was between 99 percent and 100 percent.
