Informational Meeting On Tap For DOT Bridge Projects Near Tolland-Vernon Line
Two bridge projects are slated for a key area of Tolland near the Vernon line.

TOLLAND, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation has sent out the particulars for a streamed public information meeting on two bridge projects near the Tolland-Vernon line.
They are:
- State Project Nos. 0142-0157 and 0142-0158
- Replacement of Bridge No. 06976 Carrying Industrial Park Road West over Gages Brook
- Replacement of Bridge No. 06977 Carrying Gerber Drive over Gages Brook
The meeting is slated for Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m.

"The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community with an opportunity to learn about the proposed project and allow an open discussion of any views and comments concerning the proposed improvements. A Q&A session will immediately follow the presentation.
"The purpose of this project is to address the critical condition of the bridges by designing replacement structures that meet all current design standards and improve the safety of the crossings for all roadway users
Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2027, "based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permits," DOT officials said.
The estimated construction cost for the project is approximately $3 million for Bridge No. 06976 and $4 million for Bridge No. 06977. Funding for both projects will consist of 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds, according to the DOT.
