TOLLAND, CT — Tolland's latest culinary experience is open for business.

Maria's Diner at 200 Merrow Road staged a successful grand opening Friday.

Owner John Karabetsos and Chef Johnny Nails are formerly from Ashley’s Diner in Hartford and Tolland Town Manager Brian Foley said their dishes were popular after the midnight shift back in his police days and he's glad to have them local now.

Maria's features homemade bread and rice puddings and cream pies.

And what's a diner without cheese blintzes?

  • French toast stacked with ham, turkey & Swiss cheese with optional powdered sugar
