P&ZC Sets Public Hearing for Bank Application

The Planning & Zoning Commission set a public hearing date at its Monday meeting to discuss an application from the Simon Konover Development Corporation to build a Savings Institute Bank & Trust across from Fieldstone Commons.

According to the agenda, the 2,573 square foot building would be located at 159 Merrow Road. The designs in the meeting packet also include a proposed drive-through at the bank.

The hearing is set for September 24.

The commission also met with the Tolland Water Commission and Water Pollution Control Authority to discuss the potential impacts and requirements that will be made on the utilities when the Tolland Village Area and technology corridor are developed.

The WPCA generally said that the utility is looking for more customers and has an infrastructure that is not being used to capacity.

The water commission members expressed concern over development increasing water demands. increasing the amount of water the utility can draw, commission members said that water supply and storage could potentially be inadequate on peak water use days, depending on the level of development.

The P&ZC will meet next on Monday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m.
