Photo Gallery: Shoveling Out Tolland

Volunteers and town staff worked hard Sunday to clear school roofs and to make roads and sidewalks passable.

Tolland continued to dig out from the blizzard on Sunday, with volunteers working together on school roofs and employees scraping out parking lots, sidewalks and roads.

Tolland's principals sent out a call for volunteers Saturday evening to remove snow from school buildings before it reached a critical level. Despite the efforts of the volunteers, Tolland schools are closed on Monday, due to the condition of the school parking lots and areas surrounding school entrances, according to Superintendent William Guzman and Public Works Director Clem Langlois, Jr.

Public Works crews were out on the road again Sunday, pushing back snow drifts and clearing sightlines. The staff also worked on clearing out parking lots and sidewalks.
