Prizes Announced in Tolland 300th Anniversary Beard Contest

Men from Tolland can compete for a total of $300 in prizes in the Tolland 300th Anniversary Committee beard-growing contest.

A prize of $100 will be awarded for the best overall beard, and $50 prizes will be awarded in each of the following categories: longest beard, thickest beard, most original beard, and best effort.

Similar contests were held when Tolland celebrated its 250th and 275th anniversaries.

Male residents who want to take part just need to stop by Jerry’s Barber Shop and Shave Parlor at 235 Merrow Rd. to get their clean-shaven “before” photo taken, and then start growing!

The winners will judged at the Tolland 300th townwide picnic on Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. at Tolland Middle School.
