Summer Children’s Programs at Tolland Public Library
Children's Librarian Virginia Brousseau gives us the latest on the summer reading program and other great, upcoming events.

Press Release Sent to Tolland Patch:
announces the beginning of  the Summer Reading Program for students entering grades K – 9, starting now and running through August 31st.Â
This year’s program, “Dream Big: Read!,” is run in conjunction with the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge and the Tolland schools. All participants are invited to the Summer Reading Party on Friday, August 24th at 1 PM.

Families are also invited to meet a Rock Cats mascot on Tuesday, June 26th at 10:30 AM.Â
We’ll listen to a baseball story and you’ll have a chance to get an autograph! For ages 5 and up; no sign-up is required. (Make sure you sign up for summer reading too – read 5 books to earn 2 free tickets to a Rock Cats game!)

Summer Drop-in Preschool Storytime for ages 2 to 5.
Meets on: Wednesdays at 10:30 – 11:15 AM starting June 27th; (meets on Tuesday on Jul 3rd, then goes back to Wednesdays for the rest of July through August. 1st). Families are invited to come and meet a special guest on Wed. July 11th: local author Dorothy Voyer who will present her newest picture book. No sign up required; join us as your vacation schedule permits.

Mother Goose Rhyme Time for ages 6 to 24 months old.
Meets on: Tuesdays, July 17th and July 31st at 11:15 – 11:45 AM.
Evening Firefly PJ Storytime on Thursday, June 28th at 6:30 PM for ages 2 to 8. Children are invited to come in PJs and to bring a favorite stuffed animal. No sign-up required.
K- 3rd Grade Story/Craft on Thursdays at 1:30 – 2:15 PM, starting June 28th through August 2nd (does not meet on Jul. 5th). We’ll share a story followed by a related craft each week.
Creatures of the Night: a fun and factual program about nocturnal animals for children ages 5 and up on: Tuesday, July 10th, from 10:30 AM – 12 PM.Â
Participants will make a bat mask to take home. Sign up requested.
All Tolland Public Library programs for children are free and open to the public.
