"EMS Week, May 18-24, 2025, has been designated by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) to celebrate emergency medical services (EMS) professionals. EMS Week acknowledges the important contributions of EMS professionals in safeguarding the health, safety and well-being of their communities, and ensures their hard work is fully celebrated and appreciated.
"This year, the 51st time EMS Week has been observed in our nation, will feature the theme, 'We Care. For Everyone.'
"I am pleased to bring this message and offer recognition to the local level and will begin by
thanking all members of Tolland Fire Department, both career and volunteer. Each member’s
contributions are valued and important. This year’s theme; We Care. For Everyone. sums up the spirit of not only our Department, but surrounding departments as well.
"From the multitude of required training to responding to calls for help and everything in between, emergency responders should be celebrated. Most people aren’t aware that responders willingly put themselves at risk to care for their patients. As professionals they keep their composure during the most challenging of times. They encounter patients who are cooperative, and those who are not.
"They provide care in less than ideal situations, no matter the time of day or weather. From infants to seniors, they offer reassurance and comfort, and most importantly provide care. No matter the situation EMS crews rise above many challenges, all to benefit their patients.
"Special thanks to the family members of First Responders as well as to the residents and
businesses of the community, for their support. Additionally I’d like to recognize and thank our mutual aid Departments and commercial agencies for their support and assistance in the busiest of times. The support from friends, neighbors and our peers encourages and empowers crews to continue their work and demonstrates to First Responders that the community shares the “We Care. For Everyone.” vision being celebrated."
