TOLLAND, CT — The wi-fi service could vastly improve at some of Tolland's recreational facilities if the town is approved for a federal grant.
Town Manager Brian Foley made the announcement in his latest report to the Tolland Town Council.
The application is for about $17,000 through the federal CEN Connect Program — Community Wi-Fi Program.

The primary objective of the federal program is to "leverage existing infrastructure to expand high-quality, secure, 802.11-based wireless internet using access points employed through
Community Anchor Institutions within the state of Connecticut that will extend services
to underserved, typically economically disadvantaged groups and communities in need across the
state."
The town is hoping to use the grant to expand public wifi at some of its parks and recreational
areas.
