Tolland Police Blotter: April 15 - April 21
The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of April 21, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

April 17
A 57-year-old Tolland man was uninjured when a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer he was driving rolled over after he swerved to avoid a collision on Interstate 84. Randall Crawford, of 28 Summerwood Rd., was traveling east at 4:45 p.m. on the highway when traffic slowed near exit 67 in Vernon. He turned the SUV to avoid hitting a car in front of him, overcorrected and then rolled the vehicle in the right shoulder, with Trailblazer coming to rest on its tires. Crawford was cited for failure to maintain the proper lane.
No injures were reported in a two-car accident on Route 195 near the Mobil station, but a driver was cited for improperly passing on the right. Jessica Nobles, 31, of Bethel, had stopped her 2007 Nissan Xterra to take a left into the Mobil Station when Benjamin J. Phillips-Harrison, of Stafford Springs, attempted to pass Nobles on the right. Phillips-Harrison struck the rear right panel of Nobles’ vehicle, which was later towed to the Tolland CITGO. Phillips-Harrison was cited for improperly passing.

David Michael Sr., 47, of 136 Kate Lane, was charged with disorderly conduct after a confrontation with a 16-year-old at the residence. David was released on a $500 bond and was scheduled to appear in Tolland County Superior Court in Rockville on April 18.
A two-car accident on Route 30 at 7:42 a.m. caused the road to be closed for several hours, resulted in one man being sent to the hospital and required emergency personnel to remove downed utility wires from the top of a vehicle. Mark Wendhiser, 52, of 17 Center St., Rockville, and Fong Yang, 20, of 39 Sugar Hill Rd., Tolland, were traveling in separate vehicles north on Route 30 when Yang’s 2000 Honda Accord crossed into the southbound lane and struck a utility pole. The Honda flipped onto its top and took down the wires attached to the pole, which landed on top of Wendhiser’s 2009 Jeep Liberty. Yang was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and cited for failure to drive in the right lane.

Police are investigating a complaint from a resident on Old Post Road that he found someone was in his garage. The property owner told police that he saw a white man with a hooded sweatshirt in a room off the garage around 9:45 p.m. When the owner yelled at the unidentified man, the man fled through the garage. A canine unit was not able to track the alleged offender.
A morning three-car, chain-reaction type accident on Interstate 84 east held up traffic for a bit, but did not result in injuries. Laureen A. Rimmer, 50, of Hamilton Square, NJ, was driving east in her 2001 Ford Escape in the left lane. Beth A. Parent, 49, of Ashford, was traveling in the center lane in her 2010 Nissan Maxima while Daniel M. Binette, 49, of Willington, was in the right lane in his 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Binette attempted to move into the center lane, nearly hitting Parent. Parent took evasive action and went into the left lane hitting Rimmer. Parent then went back into the center lane and hit Binette. The accident remains under investigation.
April 18
Police are investigating a report of a theft from a motor vehicle on Robbie Road. A man reported that numerous CDs and CD holders were taken from his vehicle.
A 19-year-old Ellington woman was sent to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries after a two-car accident on Tolland Stage Road near Mountain Springs Road at 12:46 p.m. Rachel J. Lipton, of 62 Newell Hill Rd., was traveling north on Mountain Springs Road in a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix when she attempted to cross the intersection with Tolland Stage Road. When she entered the intersection, she struck a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country driven by John F. Pellegrino, 49, of 148 Field Rd., Somers, who was traveling on Tolland Stage Road. The accident remains under investigation.
April 19
A Tolland woman was sent to the hospital for treatment of neck pain after a three-car chain reaction accident on Hartford Turnpike. Ann Grant, 74, of 402 Tolland Stage Rd., was stopped to take a left off of Hartford Turnpike into a driveway. Larry Levesque, 58, of 79 Cook Rd., was slowing to a stop behind Grant when a car driven by Nicole Lupaccchino, 17, of Coventry, struck Levesque’s vehicle from behind. A passenger in Levesque’s vehicle, Meryl Levesque, 58, was taken to the hospital after complaining of neck pain. The accident remains under investigation.
April 20
Jesus A. Rivera, 38, of Hartford, was charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after a routine motor vehicle stop on North Wilbur Cross Highway. Rivera is scheduled to appear in Tolland County Superior Court in Rockville on May 4.
