Tolland Republicans Endorse Slate For 2025 Municipal Election

TOLLAND, CT — The Tolland Republican Town Committee has endorsed 13 candidates for the 2025 municipal election.

The slate including three incumbents.

Here are the candidates:

Town Council

• Joseph Sce (Incumbent), Renie Besaw, Jeffrey Fish, David Marshall, Lori Ann Nelson

Board of Education

• Michael Bigda, Elaine Fish, Judy Knoob, J.P. Olynyk

Planning and Zoning Commission

• Andy Powell (Incumbent), Mark Mitchell

Zoning Board of Appeals

• Michael S. Martel (Incumbent), Sheila M Deprey

The slate "is a combination of newcomers with fresh ideas and experienced leaders," party leaders said. Sce currently serves as a member of the Tolland Town Council. Besaw, is currently on the Tolland Board of Education and will be running for a seat on the Town Council.

The newcomers "represent a cross-section of Tolland’s residents, including veterans,
financial experts, police officers, and educators," party officials said.

The Town Council consists of seven members who serve two-year terms, while the other three boards have a varied range of two and four-year terms.

"We are very excited about our slate this year. The team is already working cohesively
and is focusing on meeting some of the upcoming budgetary challenges," Tolland Republican Town Committee Chairwoman Liusa Burns said. "We are committed to making Tolland affordable for our families and single-income households, seniors, and veterans. The team is committed to meeting its responsibility to the community and to uphold the charm and historic value of our town."

The 2025 Tolland municipal election will take place on Nov. 4.
