Tolland resident Lynn Webber helped the Thames Yacht Club of New London kick off its 80th season Friday, May 17 during a celebratory ceremony on the club's dock.
Webber, who serves as the club's commodore, welcomed members to the event where flags and pennants were raised to mark the start of the season.
The Yacht Club, incorporated in 1933, offers cruising, junior sailing instruction, sailboat racing and social events, according to its Web site.
The season runs from mid-May through October, according to a news release.
