Tolland Town Council to Discuss Blight Ordinance

The Tolland Town Council will discuss an ordinance that would address blighted properties, reports the Journal Inquirer.

Eight residents recently brought the issue before the council after becoming frustrated with abandoned and neglected properties in town.

They say that the properties are becoming a hazard, are dangerous, have animal infestations, and are invitations to squatters, criminal activity, and teens looking to party.

The town does not currently have a blight ordinance and without one, it has no authority over the condition of deteriorating properties.

The council will discuss the possibility of enacting a blight ordinance at its July 28 meeting.
