Trash Can, Vehicle Catch Fire Within Minutes Of Each Other In Tolland

It was two interesting fire calls back-to-back in Tolland.

TOLLAND, CT — Firefighters in Tolland encountered two distinctly different types of blazes within minutes of each other one day last week.

At 8:57 p.m. on Jan. 2, a car fire broke out at 128 Merrow Road, right on front of the Citgo gas station. Firefighters and state police managed to keep one lane open in each direction while the flames were extinguished.

At 9:12 p.m., a call. came in about a trash can fire on Old Stafford Road near Charter Road.

When firefighters arrived, they located a trash bin at the curb that was totally engulfed in flames. Traffic was diverted from the area while a crew made quick work of the situation.
