What is My Wife Saying? Good News Friday in Tolland, Quote of the Day

Here are five things going on in the area today.

Good morning, Tolland! Today is Thursday, March 7, 2013; there are 299 days left in the year.

So I’m struggling to find a topic to write about in this space. My wife, bless her, suggested that I write about how the MCC incident is indicative of our living in a new culture of fear.

And I would write about that if, 1. it was remotely funny, which it isn’t; and 2. more importantly, I don’t understand what she’s saying.

She uses big words.

Here’s your Daily 5:

1. We’re running a new weekly feature on Tolland Patch called Good News Friday. This is a special place on the site each Friday where we get to share all the bits of good news that are posted on the site by community members throughout the week. If you have a little good news nugget that you’d like to share, don’t be shy! Upload it as an announcement or blog about it under the Local Voices section and then let us now it’s there. We’re happy to shine the spotlight on it for a while.

2. Yoga is supposed to be good for your body and soul. It’s supposed to put you a peace, lower stress and rejuvenate your limbs. When you add laughter to the mix, it just gets more fun. The Tolland Public Library is offering a class with Laura Le, a certified Laughter Yoga instructor, on March 16. It’s free program and the public is welcome. Check the library website for more details.

3. No car seat inspection Thursday because of the slick and snowy weather. Here’s the notice from the Tolland Fire Department. Fire Chief John C. Littell said in a town e-blast on Wednesday that every “effort will be made to reschedule this event in the near future.”

4. It looks like there should be plenty of snow out there again to build and army of snowmen and to construct new forts behind which you can hide during snowball fights. Do you think everyone will be as happy about the snow day as this mom and daughter were a few weeks back?

5. Here’s a great quote for the day from Anne Frank as posted by searchwarp.com: "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
