Why are you seeking this office?
I’m seeking a third term on the Vernon Town Council because I believe in the power of community and the importance of keeping people connected. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to bridge gaps—between neighbors, organizations, and local government—to make sure everyone has a seat at the table. My goal is to keep that momentum going. Vernon deserves leadership that listens, unites, and acts with fairness and compassion. Together, we can continue building a stronger, safer, and more inclusive Vernon for everyone.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is the need for stronger community connection and support systems that ensure every resident feels seen, heard, and valued. This is what I intend to do about it: I will continue building partnerships between residents, local organizations, schools, and town departments to create solutions that meet real community needs—from youth engagement and public safety to economic opportunity and neighborhood revitalization. My focus is on collaboration, communication, and action that brings people together to move Vernon and Rockville forward.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
What sets me apart is my proven record of action and deep connection to the Vernon community. I don’t just talk about community—I’m part of it every day. I serve on the Human Services Commission, the Cornerstone Board, and the Community Voice Channel Board, and I’m President of a local nonprofit that partners across Vernon to strengthen families and neighborhoods.
As an Equity Coach for Sustainable CT and chair of events like Juneteenth, the Black History Month Breakfast, and National Night Out, I’ve built strong partnerships that bring people together. From working with the Vernon Police Department on community cookouts and holiday events to supporting youth and families year-round, I have my finger on the pulse of what Vernon needs—and the experience to keep moving us forward.
I’m running to keep Vernon connected, inclusive, and moving forward together.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Along with strengthening community connections, I plan to focus on public safety, and access to essential resources. This includes supporting programs like Safe Routes to School and Building Confidence One Bike at a Time, in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Transportation, to promote safety, health, and confidence among our students.
I’ll also continue supporting small businesses, building positive partnerships between residents, law enforcement, and local organizations, and making sure families have the resources and support they need to keep their housing and remain stable. My goal is to keep Vernon moving forward—safe, connected, and inclusive for all.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I’ve shown I’m not afraid to stand up for fairness and accountability. When I challenged the nomination of our Deputy Mayor, it was to ensure that every qualified Democratic Council member had a fair opportunity to be considered. I believe in doing what’s right for Vernon, even when it means taking a tough, principled stand.
I also serve as an equity Coach with SCT which allowed me to be part of the Town of Vernon achieving a Gold-level certification under Sustainable CT.
I’ve led major community efforts—from organizing Juneteenth and the Black History Month Breakfast, to building partnerships with the Vernon Police Department and serving on boards that strengthen human services and civic engagement. My leadership is rooted in service, integrity, and action.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
The best advice I ever received was to lead with compassion, stand firm in what’s right, and use my voice to bring people together. That guidance reminds me that true leadership isn’t about titles — it’s about showing up, listening, and doing what’s right for the people you serve.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I want voters to know that my work comes from a genuine love for this community. My family has been part of Rockville for over 95 years, and that legacy inspires me to keep giving back. Rockville/Vernon isn’t just where I serve—it’s home.
I’m committed to keeping our town strong, safe, and connected. I believe in fairness, collaboration, and putting people before politics. Every decision I make is guided by compassion, transparency, and a deep respect for those I serve.
Together, we’ll keep Vernon strong.
