Car Hits School Bus In Vernon: Police
A car and a school bus carrying students collided in Vernon Monday afternoon, police said.

VERNON, CT — A school bus and a private car collided in Vernon Monday, police said.
The crash took place roughly a half-hour after Vernon Center Middle School's dismissal — 2:41 p.m. — in the area of South Street and Crown Street, according to a police report.
Police, the Vernon Fire Department, Vernon EMS, and Vernon school officials all rushed to the scene.

Both the bus and car sustained minor damage, and neither the driver nor the 15 VCMS
students on board the bus suffered a serious injury, though the driver of the private vehicle was treated at the scene by an EMS crew "for a complaint of pain," according to a police report. The driver of the car that struck the bus was determined to be at fault in this crash, according to a police report.
After the students and bus driver were evaluated, the bus continued on its route with the students
that were not picked up by their parents, police said.

Police issued a heads-up to the general public.
"The Vernon Police Department asks all drivers to be alert and mindful of your surroundings at all
times," police said.
