Dog Rescued From I-84 — Vernon, State Police Searching For Owner

A dog was picked up on I-84 in Union Monday, and brought to the Vernon police department.

VERNON, CT — A dog was safe at the Vernon Animal Control facility Tuesday after being rescued from the northern reaches of Interstate 84 a day earlier, police said.

Vernon police Monday morning said the male dog was picked up on the highway near Exit 73 in Union and brought to the local police station.

Vernon police, along with state police out of the Troop C barracks and Vernon animal control are working together in an effort to solve the mystery and locate the dog's owner.

"This big boy was picked up on the highway. He's cold and wet but otherwise seems to be unharmed," Vernon police said. "Please share or contact us with any information you may have."
