Driver Hits Mailbox, Guardrail, Utility Pole In Vernon
A man bounced his vehicle around a street in Vernon and was apprehended after leaving the scene, police said.

VERNON, CT — A vehicle bounced around a section of Regan Road before the driver was eventually tracked down in a drunken driving incident this week in Vernon, police said.
The crash took place at 1:24 p.m. on Monday, according to an arrest report. The report was released Thursday.
Police said they were alerted to a crash along the 100 block of Regan Road and noticed a vehicle had driven into a guardrail, a mailbox and a utility pole before the driver left the scene, according to an arrest report.

The driver was located at his residence 41 minutes later about a mile-and-a-half away from the crash scene and admitted to police that he was in an accident, according to an arrest report. He showed "numerous signs of impairment," and then failed sobriety tests, police said in an arrest report.
The 35 year old was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, a lane violation and evading responsibility in a crash with property damage, records show. He posted a $1,500 bond and has a court date of Jan. 27, police said.
