Driver Violently Strikes Pedestrian On Hartford Crosswalk; Leaves Scene: Police

Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect. The pedestrian remains in a medically-induced coma.

Hartford Police are hoping someone from the public can help them identify the vehicle and suspect involved in a violent hit-and-run that occurred on Monday, Nov. 23, at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Police released video footage of the accident. The WFSB video is at the bottom of the article and may be disturbing to watch.

The accident occurred in the area of 333 Homestead Ave. in Hartford. The man attempting to cross the street was struck by the vehicle, which then drove off, WFSB reported.

The man was located approximately 150-feet away from where he was hit and was in a designated crosswalk, according to the Hartford Courant.

  • Tan Chrysler Town and Country van
  • Connecticut license plate 395-YMM

Investigating officers said the plate yielded no answers, as it was misused. They said the van could have damage to its front bumper, windshield and hood.

The victim’s injuries are not life threatening, according to WFSB. He sustained broken legs, arms and an injury to the head.
