Vernon School System's 'Bluprint' Gets National Kudos
Vernon's educational strategy is being called a "home-grown program that can inspire and be replicated by other districts."

VERNON, CT — The Vernon public school system has been honored as a finalist for the Culture, Vision & Strategic Planning Award from the national District Administration Leadership Institute.
The organization recognizes innovative programs created by school districts to improve student
outcomes, engagement and overall educational excellence. The District Administration Leadership Institute honored Vernon as a District of Distinction for its program called “Developing District Coherence and Capacity in the Vernon Public Schools: A Pathway Forward using the Blueprint for Success." The Vernon Public Schools' Blueprint for Success is a key element of the district’s strategic plan that sets high standards to drive student success and is designed to take the district to "the next level of education excellence."
DALI seeks to honor home-grown programs that can "inspire and be replicated by other districts across the nation to help them improve." Vernon was one of three finalists selected from across the U.S. The other two finalists are in Colorado and Wisconsin.

"We are grateful to be honored by DALI and embrace the opportunity to share our tools for success with other districts," Vernon Superintendent of Schools Joseph Macary said. "All educators share the
common goals of increasing student achievement, school engagement and overall educational
excellence."
Vernon is the only Connecticut district to be honored this year as a DALI District of Distinction.

"We have a rigorous curriculum standards and high expectations for all of our students," Macary said. "We also rely on families to play an integral role in educating their children. And if a student struggles, we have interventions in place to help them overcome any challenges and succeed."
