Illegal Fireworks Stash Seized During Traffic Stop In Vernon
A trunkful of "exploding" fireworks was discovered at a Vernon traffic stop, police said.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police seized a stash of powerful fireworks after a traffic stop on Route 83, an arrest report shows.
At 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, a motorist drove up to a Vernon police cruiser to alert an officer to an erratic driver, who was headed South and whose Nissan Sentra was weaving in-and-out of traffic and crossing the center lines, according to and arrest report.
Police caught up to the vehicle at the Dart Hill Road-Skinner Road intersection, according to an arrest report. The driver, a 29-year-old East Hartford man, admitted he may have "contraband" in the vehicle but was uncooperative physically and had to be wrestled to the ground, according to an arrest report.

Police then located 25 different illegal fireworks in the trunk and 8.2 ounces of marijuana in the car, according to an arrest report.
The driver was charged with a failure to drive in the proper lane, interfering with police, driving while under suspension, illegal possession of exploding fireworks and possession of more than 5 ounces of cannabis, according to an arrest report.
