TOLLAND, CT — A Massachusetts woman stands accused of breaking into a car in Tolland and trying to rack up purchases with credit cards taken in the incident, state police said.

On Monday, at 2:13 p.m., state troopers from the Troop C barracks were dispatched to Manchester Superior Court for a woman who arrived with an active arrest warrant from the troop. The woman, identified as 25-year-old Jada Williams, of Worcester, MA, was wanted in connection with an October investigation in which Williams is accused of breaking into a vehicle and stealing several items from inside it, state police said.

The items included several credit and debit cards and Williams is accused of trying to use them to the tune of more than $1,000, state police said.

While Williams was being taken into custody, she ran from troopers and attempted to get into a vehicle, state police said. Williams was assisted out of the vehicle before being able to flee, and continued actively resisting arrest, state police said. Williams was eventually subdued without further incident or injury, state police said.

  • Conspiracy to commit larceny in the fourth degree
  • Conspiracy to commit criminal mischief in the third degree
  • Conspiracy to commit receipt from the illegal use of a credit card

For the scuffle, she was charged with interfering with an officer, state police said.

Williams was initially held on a total of $100,000 bonds which she was unable to post. In Rockville Superior Court the next day, her bail was reduced to $10,000, which she posted, judicial system records show. Williams is due back in court on July 28.

According to a warrant, a woman told state police she parked at her place of business on Shenipsit Lake Road at 11 p.m. on Oct. 23. While at work, she received a charge card alert that a purchase of $82.21 was being attempted at a Tolland gas station.

The woman then went to her car and saw the passenger side front window smashed and a $250 Coach purse missing, according to a warrant. Its contents included credit cards and $50 in cash, according to as warrant.

A pair of glasses valued at $300 was also gone, according to a warrant.

The woman also received calls about unauthorized purchases totaling $821.81 and $351.09, according to a warrant.

Williams was identified via surveillance, according to a warrant.
