VERNON, CT — It has certainly been a busy holiday week for the Vernon Police Department.

Starting at Christmas Eve and Heading into New Year's Eve, the VPD made 27 arrests. In one notable incident, police dog Franco helped break up a narcotics operation in the central part of town on Dec. 26.

At about 6 p.m. that day, officers were dispatched to the Valley View Lane area to investigate a suspicious vehicle complaint. Franco was called to the scene because officers suspected that the man and woman in the vehicle were in possession of drugs.
