Police: Man Bit Woman's Nose Off After She Took Wrong Turn
The 33-year-old South Windsor man is now facing charges after the Vernon incident.

A 33-year-old South Windsor man is under arrest after attacking a woman in Vernon.
On Monday at approximately 9:15 a.m., Vernon police received a 911 call from a woman who was reporting she was just attacked by a male in her vehicle, which was parked in a lot at 200 Regan Rd., and that during the attack, a significant portion of her nose was bit off by the suspect.

The suspect was immediately identified to police as Aaron Goodwin Olmsted, 33, of 10 Homestead Dr. in South Windsor. The woman reported that Olmsted fled the area on foot. Numerous Vernon police officers were dispatched to the scene, as well as Vernon EMS and paramedics.
Upon arrival at the scene, the female victim was treated and was transported to Hartford Hospital for her serious injury.

Vernon police immediately began an extensive search of the area and were assisted by South Windsor police pfficers and a police K9 from the state police. At approximately 9:50 a.m., a South Windsor police officer located Olmsted on Avery Street in South Windsor. Olmsted was arrested for the assault by Vernon police and transported to Vernon Police Headquarters.
Olmsted was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment. Olmsted is being held in lieu of a $500,000 surety bond. He is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on Monday afternoon for arraignment.
Olmsted has a history of psychiatric conditions and the victim was known to him and was working for a social service agency. The victim was reportedly attacked after making a wrong turn while taking the accused to a medical appointment.
