Superintendent Challenges Students to Help Food, Book Drives

The school that wins the challenge will be presented the "Superintendent's Trophy" on June 10.

Dr. Mary Conway, Superintendent of Vernon Schools, has challenged the district to help with this year's HVCC Food Pantry Summer Food Drive and the Vernon Bookmobile Book Drive.

"Last year you showed extraordinary TEAMWORK, SPIRIT, AND DEDICATION by donating thousands of food items and your gently used and new books to help your community!," Conway said in a statement on the Vernon Schools Web site

The Food and Book Drive will run thru Friday, June 7.

Book suggestions on the school flier include, but are not limited to:

Board books (all subjects);
Sports books (all ages);
Animal books (chapter and picture books); 

Series:
Unfortunate Events;
Junie B;
Captain Underpants;
Judy Blume Books;
Beaverly Cleary Books;
Goosebumps;
Animorphs;
Magic Tree House;
Boxcar;
Flat Stanley; and 
Jigsaw Jones.
