Vernon Public Works Issues Yard Waste Reminder

Yard waste can be disposed of at the Transfer Station during selected hours.

With spring right around the corner, residents are reminded that yard waste (sticks, leaves, brush, weeds, pine cones, pine needles, etc.) should not be placed into refuse or recycling containers.

The Vernon Transfer Station, located on Hockanum Boulevard, is open Wednesdays and Saturdays 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and on Sundays from Noon - 4 p.m. Small quantities of yard waste are accepted free of charge when dropped off during normal business hours.

All Vernon’s yard waste is recycled into a mulch product that residents may take home free of charge to use around their homes and gardens. Yard waste that is placed into refuse and recycling carts does not get recycled and is not acceptable at disposal facilities.

Recycling yard waste saves Vernon money in disposal fees.
