Vernon Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

The stop took place on I-84 on July 4.

A 39-year-old Bloomfield man is facing several charges after he was stopped on I-84 in Vernon on July 4.

At approximately 10:38 p.m., a trooper from the Troop C Narcotic Enforcement Team observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the left lane on I-84 in Vernon. The trooper stopped the vehicle at the Exit 67 off ramp and the operator subsequently gave consent to search the vehicle he was driving.

During the search, the trooper discovered approximately two grams of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.

The operator, Troy Hayes, of 4 Hickory Ln., was placed under arrest for possession of a narcotic, possession of marijuana, reckless driving >85 mph, and driving with a suspended license.

He was later released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and was due in Rockville Superior Court on July 14.
