Warrant Charges Vernon Man In Manchester Highway Shooting
A springtime highway shooting in Manchester has left a Vernon man with several criminal charges and a gun confiscated by state police.

MANCHESTER, CT — A Vernon man has been charged in a springtime highway shooting in Manchester, state police said.
According to an incident report, at 12:37 a.m. on May 7, a motorist exited Interstate 384 in Manchester and stopped next to a Manchester police officer to report a shooting on the highway.
A detective with the state police Central District Major Crime Squad was called to investigate and was told by the driver that someone from another vehicle had opened fire on his vehicle, according to an incident report. The driver was not hurt, but his vehicle was struck several times and the rear windshield was broken, according to an incident report.

Troopers shut down I-384 and located five shell casings in the road, according to an incident report.
The shooter, who was driving a dark-colored BMW, was identified as 26-year-old Tyshon Walker, according to an incident report. Walker was also wanted by the East Hartford Police Department for an unrelated shooting in that town, state police said.

Detectives secured a search and seizure warrant and searched Walker's residence with the assistance of the State Police Tactical Unit. Walker was inside and after initially disobeying orders, was eventually taken into custody and turned over to the East Hartford Police Department.
The search uncovered numerous narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia, and a Glock Gen4 gun with an automatic switch and an extended magazine containing 21 rounds of ammunition, according to an incident report.
The registration affixed to the vehicle involved in the highway shooting was located inside the residence, according to an incident report.
State police detectives secured a warrant for Walker's arrest and it was served Thursday at the Hartford Correctional Center, where Walked was incarcerated on unrelated charges.
Walker was charged with:
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Possession of an assault weapon
- Criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault
Walker was held on a court-set $1 million bond and was to appear in Hartford Superior Court Friday.
