Wayward Hay Bale Causes Crash On I-84 In Vernon

VERNON, CT — A wayward bale of hay caused a crash last week on a stretch of Interstate 84 in Vernon. state police said.

And it was no April Fools joke.

According to a crash report, on April 1 shortly after 9 a.m., a 2021 Toyota Camry was heading west on I-84 in the right lane near Exit 64 when it suddenly came upon a hay bale that had fallen onto the road.

The driver, a 68-year-old man from Sturbridge, MA, escaped injury state police said.

State police said anyone witnessing a bale of hay falling from a vehicle in that vicinity can call them at 860-896-3200.
