Man Charged In Assault Of Woman: Wallingford Police

The man was taken into custody and arrested on a warrant after several hours of surveillance and brief negotiation, according to police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A 35-year-old New Haven man was arrested Friday in connection with a domestic incident that happened last month in Wallingford, according to police.

Police said the incident happened Sept. 20 and the man fled when police arrived and couldn’t be found. The victim was immediately taken to the hospital for further evaluation due to her visible injuries, according to police.

An arrest warrant was obtained for the man.

Police said the Wallingford Community Impact Unit developed a plan to take the man into custody, and began conducting surveillance on Oct. 18 in the 300 block of South Elm Street in Wallingford.

After several hours of surveillance and brief negotiation, police said the man agreed to exit the back door and was taken into custody around 12:40 p.m.

The man was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, third-degree assault, second-degree threatening, and first-degree strangulation / suffocation. He was held in lieu of a $200,000 and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.

The investigation was conducted by the Wallingford Community Impact Unit, with the assistance of the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and the Wallingford Police Patrol Division.
