Obituary: Albert V. Barbieri Jr., 76, of Wallingford

Al was a devoted family man, dedicated pillar in the community and longtime member of the musical group, "The Barbieri Brothers".

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Albert V. Barbieri Jr., 76, of Wallingford, passed away suddenly on May 4, 2022 at his home.

Al was a lifelong resident of Wallingford and attended Lyman Hall H.S. He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. Al then began his career working for Coca Cola as a salesman before becoming a delivery driver for Dichello Distributors.

His career continued as a mail carrier in New Haven until his retirement in 2015. Al enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. One of Al’s greatest joys was playing the trumpet and singing alongside his brothers for many years in their band, “The Barbieri Brothers”.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus – Pinta Council #5, the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks – Lodge #1365, the Veterans of Foreign Wars -Lodge #591 and the Libero Pensiero Society, all of Wallingford.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Cathy (Murchie) Barbieri; his sons, Jason Barbieri and Tyler Barbieri (Kimberly); and his grandchildren, Camren and Alayna, all of Wallingford. He is also survived by his brothers, John (Barbara), Richard (Rae), Edmund and Jim (Deborah); his sister, Mary Ann; his in-laws, Rod and Debbie Murchie, Julie and Scott Griswold and Sherry Murchie; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

Al was predeceased by his parent, Albert V. and Ruth (Thied) Barbieri Sr.; his parents-in-law, Don and Dee Murchie; and his sister-in-law, Rosemary Perone Barbieri.

Al’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Wednesday, May 11th, from 3-5pm. Funeral services will begin at 5pm in the funeral home.
