Obituary: Bonnie Alter Kirby, 79, of Wallingford
Bonnie, an avid crafter, painter and gardener, worked many years in the cafeteria at both the Whittlesey Avenue School and Pond Hill School.
WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Bonnie Alter Kirby, 79, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Miller Memorial Community. She was the wife of the late John C. Kirby.
Bonnie was born in Amsterdam, NY, October 29, 1942, a daughter of the late Russell and Betty (Hammer) Alter.
Bonnie moved to Wallingford, CT in 1962 and worked many years in the cafeterias of Whittlesey Avenue School and Pond Hill School until her retirement.
Bonnie enjoyed crafts, sewing and painting. Bonnie would spend her spare time in her garden, walking with her dog and having coffee with her friends.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Joan Flanagan of Meriden; her grandsons, Sean and Devin Flanagan; and her step children, Neil, Gary, Dale and Debby Kirby.
She also leaves her dear friend Pat whose frequent visits brought much joy to Bonnie.
Bonnie’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Tuesday, May 3rd, from 4 to 7pm.
Interment will be in upstate New York. Gifts in her memory may be sent to: the Alzheimer’s Association.
