Obituary: Clifford S. Klein, 83, of Wallingford
Clifford, known as "Pops" to friend and family, served as a corrections officer for the CT Department of Corrections for many years.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Clifford S. Klein, 83, of Wallingford, loving husband of Helen (Bauroth) Klein, passed away April 30, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital.
The son of the late Frederick and Erma (Hildreth) Klein he was born in New Haven on April 30, 1938. He graduated from West Haven High School in 1956 and in 1957 graduated from Milford Prep.
He was a member of the Air National Guard.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a corrections officer for the CT Department of Corrections and was known by his co-workers as “Pops”.
He was an avid sports fan who also enjoyed coaching his kid’s soccer teams and followed the Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Steelers faithfully.
In addition to his devoted wife of 54 years, he is survived by his three children, Clifford (Christine) Klein of Wallingford, Katherine (Louis) Bartolotta of Cromwell and Charles Klein of Southington. Lovingly known by his seven grandchildren as Grandpa, Pa, Grumpy and the Cookie Monster, he leaves to cherish his memory, Andrew and Megan Klein, Christopher and Juliana Bartolotta and Taylor, Charles and Connor Klein.
He also leaves behind many nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, LaVerne Ahern.
His family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford on Thursday, May 13th, 2021 from 4 pm until 7 pm.
His funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday at the funeral home.

Interment with military honors will be at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. Masks must be worn, and Covid-19 precautions are to be observed at all services.
