Obituary: Henry Breindel, 95, of Wallingford

Henry served in the US Navy during World War II, worked at Pfizer for many years and was heavily active in the Boy Scouts of America.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Henry Breindel, 95, of Wallingford, loving husband of the late Edna (Herbstritt) Breindel, passed away peacefully April 25, 2021.

Henry was born in St. Marys, PA on January 14, 1926, a son of the late John and Loretta (Fritz) Breindel.

Henry served in the United States Navy during World War II with the 124th CB Battalion in the Aleutian Islands. He retired after 28 years of working at Pfizer.

Henry was active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years, having served in different positions with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Explorers. He was a member of the CT Scout Council, where he received the Silver Beaver Award.

He was also active with the Catholic Committee on Scouting and received the Bronze Pelican Award and the St. George Medal. Henry shared before his passing that he lived a great life. He was lucky to travel the world and country, whether he was traveling with family or traveling to visit family. He leaves behind a legacy that will be carried on by his family.

Henry’s top priority was his family. He was married for 73 years. He leaves behind a family that will miss him greatly, 7 children, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 7 siblings and many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his daughter Judith Pulaski and her husband Donald; son James and his wife Christina; son Jordan and his wife Debra; son Jeffrey and his wife Cheryl; son John; son Joseph and his wife Ann; and daughter Joanne Irish and her husband Mark. He is survived by his brothers Walt, Robert, Gerard, Raymond, Blaine and George, and his sister Carol Foster.

He is predeceased by his siblings Eileen DePrater, Ethel Ann Melillo, Grace Meyer, Alice Caruso and Ivan Breindel. He was also blessed with an extended family Peter and Cindy Reed and Bill and Diane Jens.
The family would like to thank Kathleen and Sister Rosario from the Franciscan Ever There Care for their care and compassion they gave Henry and his family over the past years.

His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 on Monday directly at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wallingford.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden with Military Honors.
