Obituary: Lars Olaf Edeen, Sr., 87, of Wallingford
Lars was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, successful salesman, founding member of the Laurel Bicycle Club and dedicated member of the community.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Lars Olaf Edeen, Sr., 87 of Wallingford, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 after a courageous battle at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Vivian (Ekbladh) Edeen of 65 years.
Lars was born a first-generation U.S. Citizen in Ridgeway, PA, May 11, 1934, a son of the late Salvation Army Majors John and Elva (Hillstrom) Edeen. He met Vivian Ekbladh (Love of his life) at Salvation Army Youth Camp in Worchester, MA.
He was a proud member of the US Navy, serving during the Korean War. A year after his military service he and Vivian married and started their life-long journey together. He was a successful salesman for a small pharmaceutical company.
When the company was bought out, he decided to open The North Haven Bicycle Center. He also was a founding member of the Laurel Bicycle Club (Celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year). The couple moved to Kissimmee, FL in 1993, where they entertained and hosted many, many friends and relatives. (Big Disney fans) They moved back to Wallingford, CT in 2006 to be close to family.
Lars was a member of the Sons of Norway and Vasa Order of America.
He was a proud Boston Red Sox fan.
In addition to his wife Vivian, he is survived by his children, Lars O. Edeen Jr. and his wife Mary (Heslin) Edeen, Laurie (Edeen) Harris and her husband Scott Harris, and David J. Edeen and his wife Pamela B. Edeen; his grandchildren, Lars O. Edeen III, Cody Edeen (Nathalie), Erik Edeen (Jessica), Kirstin Thomas Wright (Michael), Camden Thomas (Jessica), Yngwie Edeen (Wiltssey), Malcom Edeen, Satchel Edeen, Summer Edeen, Lily Edeen and Russell Edeen; his six great-grandchildren, Luella, Rosalie, Brooke, Anja, Matthew and Carmen; his brother, John Edeen and his wife Mary Ann; and niece Mona (Markusen) Lauen many other nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Lars was predeceased by his grandson, Karl “Niko” Ryan Edeen; and his sisters, Ester Johnson, Ruth Edeen, Judith Enquist, Jeanette Anderson and Violet Ljungquist.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, May 8th from 2 to 6 pm in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 am at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, 23 South Main St.
Interment with military honors will follow in In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Salvation Army or a donation of Blood to the local blood bank.
