Obituary: Mabel Scarpa Charnysh, 101, of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Mabel Scarpa Charnysh, 101, of Wallingford, loving wife of 63 years of the late John P. Charnysh, died May 4, 2022.

Mabel was born in Wallingford, June 12, 1920, a daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Manfredi) Scarpa.

Mabel and her husband John were the proprietors of Charnysh’s, a jewelry, watch repair and gift shop on Meadow Street in Wallingford in 1951, and after 2 years moved to Center Street, where they remained in the business until their retirement in 1982.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Dighello, Elizabeth Jerico, Dorothy Pelatzky and Elizabeth Fenn; and brothers, Peter, Michael and Roger Scarpa.

Interment will be private at In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home.
