Sheehan Boys, Girls Basketball Teams Advance To State Championships
Both the Sheehan boys and girls basketball teams will be playing for state championships this weekend at Mohegan Sun Arena.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Both the Sheehan boys and girls basketball teams will be playing for state championships this weekend at Mohegan Sun Arena.
The third-seeded Sheehan girls basketball team advanced to a championship showdown with top-seeded East Catholic with a 37-31 victory over No. 2 Rocky Hill in the Class MM semifinals Tuesday night at Plainville High School.
Megan Wresien scored her 1,000th career point in the victory, Sheehan Athletics wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The 23rd-seeded Sheehan boys basketball team later joined the girls team with a trip to Mohegan Sun with a 56-44 victory over No. 6 New Fairfield in the Division IV semifinals at Naugatuck High School.
The Titans will take on top-seeded Ellington for the Division IV championship at 12:30 p.m. at Mohegan Sun.

The girls team will play for the Class MM championship at 3 p.m.
Sheehan becomes the second Southern Connecticut Conference school since 1994-95 to have both the boys and girls basketball teams make the state finals in the same year (joining Hillhouse in 2009-10), according to SCC Commissioner Al Carbone.
