The daycare owner has been free on a $125,000 bond but accepted a plea deal in court, according to a report.
WALLINGFORD, CT — A Wallingford daycare owner, Brenda Fornal, has been sentenced to serve nine months in prison after accepting a plea deal, WTNH News 8 reported.
According to online court records, Fornal had originally been charged in November 2022 with nine counts of risk of injury to a child, fourth-degree sexual assault, voyeurism with malice, two counts of second-degree threatening, and seven counts of third-degree assault. She has been free on a $125,000 bond.
As part of the plea deal in which Fornal pleaded guilty to one count of risk of injury, she will be placed on probation for five years and is not allowed to "oversee minors in the future," WTNH News 8 reported. (Read more and watch video of the WTNH News 8 story here).

During this week's court appearance, a parent of one of the children, said there is "no real fair sentencing or real justice in a case like this..." as reported by News 8. While Fornal's attorney said they maintain that their client is innocent but accepted the plea deal "because of the exposure hanging over her head..." as reported by WTNH News 8.
At the time of Fornal's arrest in 2022, police said the daycare owner has been arrested in connection with the investigation of the verbal and physical abuse of several children at the home day care on Ridetop Road in Wallingford earlier that year.
