Wallingford Resident Named NE-10 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

The Lyman Hall graduate has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, officials announced.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford’s Colin Blake, a graduate student on the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team, was named the Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Week 4 Pitcher of the Week, the NE-10 announced Monday.

Blake, a Lyman Hall High School graduate, had an outstanding week for the 9-3 Owls, who have won seven-straight games.

Blake started the week with his first save as an Owl after logging four innings in relief in Southern's 3-1 win against Mercy. Blake gave up just one hit, and allowed an unearned run in four innings.

Against Bridgeport, Blake pitched a complete game shutout in Southern's 11-0 win. After allowing a runner in each of the first three innings, he retired seven straight batters from the fourth inning to the sixth and then the last four batters he faced.

Blake has allowed just one unearned run in his last 18 innings pitched while striking out 13 over his last three appearances. He is 2-1 with a 1.64 ERA so far this season.
