Wallingford Resident Named NE-10 Conference Field Athlete Of The Year
The Sheehan graduate, a member of the SCSU men's track & field team, received the Northeast-10 Conference's postseason honor.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford's Jordan Davis, a senior on the Southern Connecticut State University men's track and field team, was named the Northeast-10 Conference’s Field Athlete of the Year.
The Owls dominated the NE-10 postseason awards, with Jeremy Rivera also earning Track Rookie of the Year and Jared Eaton being named the Field Rookie of the Year. In addition, head coach John Wallin and his staff were named Men's Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year while Melissa Stoll-Funaro and staff won Women's Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year.
Davis, a Sheehan graduate, became the first athlete in NE-10 history to win two-consecutive Field Athlete of the Year honors after a historic 2024 outdoor season, according to a news release. Davis also won NE-10 Field Rookie of the Year honors in 2021.

This season, Davis won his fourth-straight NE-10 Javelin Throw Championship and will compete in his fourth-straight NCAA Division II National Championship later this week. Davis won the 2022 NCAA Javelin National Championship and will look to win his second in three seasons.
Earlier this year, Davis broke the NCAA Division II Javelin Throw record with a mark of 83.77m at the Texas Relays, a mark that stands as the 10th-best in United States history.

Competing in his first NE-10 Championship in his first season with the Owls, Jeremy Rivera won the 800 Meter Championship with a personal-best time of 1:52.06. Rivera also won the Silver Medal in the 1500 Meters with a second-place finish that was 0:00.01 off the leader. Previous Owls to win the award include Sean Barkasy (2023), Ramsley Exantus (2019) and Yakabu Ibrahim (2014).
Eaton, also competing in his first NE-10 Championship, won the Bronze Medal in the Discus Throw with a personal-best mark of 44.67m and also finished fourth in the Shot Put, behind three other Owls (Cameron Belton, Bernardo Mbaya and Natanael Barbosa Torres) with a person-best mark of 15.49m. Previous Owls to win the award include Duke Quermorllue (2023), Davis (2021) and Jack Brown (2016).
For Wallin and his staff, the Owls won their 20th NE-10 Outdoor Championship in program history and their seventh-straight. This is Wallin's 11th Outdoor Coach of the Year honor and the 18th in program history that included six for Jack Maloney and one for Shawn Green. Wallin and his staff also host nine NE-10 Indoor Coach of the Year honors.
Stoll guided the women's program to its first NE-10 title since 2015 and sixth all-time while she was recognized for the third time in her coaching career after winning in 2014 and 2015.
