Beware of Contractors With No Seal of Approval

The Waterford Police Department posted a warning on its Facebook page about an unlicensed "contractor" offering pavement sealing in the Waterford area. 

Police say an elderly woman contacted them after a young man knocked on her door offering to seal her driveway. He claimed to have material leftover from another sealing job he had just completed down the road. The woman told police the man was not dressed for such a job and when she refused to take his card, he threw a few in her driveway. She later scouted the neighborhood and saw no signs that any driveway work had been done nearby. 
 
Waterford Police took one of the cards, which bears the name "Seal Rite," and checked with the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. Police say this company does not have a license with the State of Connecticut.  

For your own protection, please check that any contractor you hire has a license, insurance, and references before you sign a contract and don't have work done without a contact in hand.
