Dangerous Waterford Intersection To Get Four-Way Stop

WATERFORD, CT β€” The Board of Police Commissioners has approved making a local intersection into a four-way stop. The change to the intersection, at Douglas Lane and Vauxhall Street Extension, is intended to enhance safety.

The police department wrote in a July 25 Facebook post that they will be working with Public Works, Call Before You Dig, and others to "get this project completed in the next week or two."

"Ever drive on Douglas Lane in Waterford and reach the intersection with Vauxhall Street Ext?" police wrote. "Looking left for traffic make you a bit uneasy? Due to the road design, you have to pull out quite a bit to see if anyone is coming down the hill...

"We hear you!"

Police said there would be warning signs at the intersection to bring attention to the upcoming change.

"This is to make this intersection more safe, so if you travel this way often you will be seeing changes very soon. Please slow down as you approach moving forward," police wrote in the post.

Residents in the area said that there are accidents at the intersection frequently, The Day reported.
