Fast Times At Niantic Bay Triathlon
Waterford competitors were put through their paces in a fast race on Sunday.

The 15th AnnualΒ Niantic Bay Triathlon tested the metal of 466 competitors on Sunday, as they swam, biked, and ran along a scenic shoreline course around Niantic.Β
William Schumann of West Hartford won the race, finishing the courseΒ in less than an hour with a time of 58 minutes and 57 seconds. The number one ranked competitor,Β Alexander Kowalsky of Madison, came in second with a time of 59 minutes, 15 seconds, followed by Brendan Mims of Massapequa, New York, who was close on his heels with a time of 59 minutes, 34 seconds.Β
The pace this year was faster than last year.Β William Lunn of Old Lyme, who won the race last year,Β came in fourth this year, finishing the course in exactly one hour.Β That, however, was better thanΒ his winning timeΒ of one hour, 2 minutes, and 50 seconds in 2012.Β
Tracy Montoya of Waterford finished in 18th place with a time of one hour, five minutes and 29 seconds.Β Joe Baldi of Waterford placed 23rd,Β finishing the race in one hour, six minutes and 31 seconds. Β
The last competitor crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 22 minutes, and 11 seconds but with a race like this, just completing the course is an accomplishment.Β
You'll find a list of all the competitors and their final times inΒ race results for the Niantic Bay Marathon at the Cool Running web site.Β
